Studio

Lilian Ortega and Alex Luiten of Luiten Ortega

Luiten Ortega is a landscape architecture studio working across residential landscapes and public spaces.

The practice brings together spatial design, planting and ecology from the outset. Its focus is on creating landscapes that are connected to the people who use them and to the architecture, and that respond closely to the wider setting and the conditions of each site. Soil, water, exposure, biodiversity and long-term resilience are considered as part of the design, helping landscapes establish well and develop naturally over time.

Alex Luiten and Lilian Ortega work directly across every project, from early design and planning through documentation, construction and planting. This close involvement creates continuity throughout the process and helps ensure the original thinking is carried through to the finished landscape.

Concept to installation

Luiten Ortega works across the full life of a project, from early site thinking and concept design through to documentation, construction and planting.

The level of involvement is shaped around each project. This can mean working alongside an architect from the beginning of a new build, developing the landscape around an existing home, or taking a garden through a more focused planting or renewal programme.
